Men are more likely to drive aggressively

Men by nature, are often more aggressive than women. This does not change when it comes to driving. A report published by AAA found that men are three times more likely than women to display road rage behaviors. Whether they are stuck in traffic on their way to an important appointment or meeting, or they are simply frustrated with a slow driver blocking their path, men tend to get more aggressive while behind the wheel. In fact, at least 80 percent of motorists in the United States admit that they have become aggressive while driving. It is simply not uncommon for people to feel angry, anxious and impatient when trying to get to where they need to go.

Aggressive driving presents a great danger to everyone who is sharing the road with these negligent motorists. Drivers with road rage may switch from lane to lane erratically, tailgate or speed. They may also use inappropriate language or hand gestures as a way to get the attention of the other driver. Aggressive drivers who are speeding may have difficulties stopping for hazards, such as pedestrians, traffic lights, stop signs, bad weather or objects in the road.

Officials say that if people are faced with a driver who has road rage, they should never participate in name calling or giving gestures. It is important to avoid altercations whenever possible. If someone is trying to pass, try not to block them and let them pass. People who spot someone driving recklessly may want to alert the authorities.
