Cellphone companies face lawsuits over apps

Despite laws regarding cellphone use while driving, many motorists continue to talk and text on their cellular devices while behind the wheel. Not only that, but some motorists take selfies, post pictures on line, record live footage and even FaceTime their friends while they are navigating the roadways. People put their lives, and the lives of everyone on the road, in imminent danger when engaged in these dangerous habits. In some cases, lawsuits have been filed against cellphone companies for failing to develop key safety locks in their apps that may keep cellphone owners from using the features while driving.

Driver falls asleep at the wheel: Kills four

People are warned about the risks of drowsy driving on a regular basis in Texas and across the United States. However, a significant number of drivers and truckers fall asleep while navigating the roadways and in some cases, these tragic occurrences can end in a catastrophic accident, serious injury or death. These accidents are completely preventable, and sadly, lives are lost before people are able to see how dangerous drowsy driving really is.

Motor vehicle accidents and serious brain damage

Whether people have been involved in a minor fender bender or have been victimized by a major catastrophic collision, they run the risk of receiving damage to the soft tissue of the brain. The delicate brain sits suspended within the skull cavity. Any type of forceful impact to the head, such as when the head hits the steering wheel or side window, could cause the brain to bounce into the hard bones of the skull. At The Martin Law Firm, we understand how serious brain damage can be, as well as the detrimental effects that it can have on a person’s life.

After a Texas truck accident, a lawyer may be your best ally

As every Texan knows, this great land is the largest of the 48 contiguous states, and second only to California for population in the entire nation. The farms of Texas feed the country, and the oil products keep the engines running from coast to coast. Small wonder that scores of big trucks flow in and out of Texas every day.

Increase in freight may mean more truck accidents

Large trucks are an important part of the economy, as they distribute goods across Texas and throughout the country. Although we depend on these massive vehicles, they can be extremely dangerous as well. As the American economys health continues to improve, the American Trucking Associations predict a steady increase in the amount of freight that needs to be distributed each year. In fact, freight is expected to increase by 23.5 percent from 2013 to 2025. While this may be good for jobs and the economy, some are concerned that this increase in freight will cause an increase in tractor trailer accidents as well.
