Drunk driving accident leaves one dead

When someone makes the decision to get their license, there are several state traffics laws that they must learn about before they can hit the road. In addition to becoming knowledgeable of laws regarding speed limits, road signs and vehicle registration, drunk driving laws should be learned and adhered to when in any vehicle. Although many people are aware of these laws and agree to adhere to them whenever they are behind the wheel, there have been many that have failed to do so and have caused an accident.

In Texas, a drunk driver injured himself and killed another in a single-car accident. Reportedly, the accident occurred when the man attempted to exit I-294 and drove down an embankment. When crashing into a ramp, he and his passenger, who was riding in the backseat, were injured. Both were taken to the hospital, but the passenger died as a result of his injuries.

The blood-alcohol level of the driver of the vehicle was said to have been .16 at the time of the accident. Final lab results have yet to be released, but this level is two time the legal limit. He was also said to not have had a valid Texas license. Aggravated DUI causing a death is his current charge.

Unfortunately, drunk driving accidents occur on roads all over the United States on a daily basis. Although there is not much car accident victims can do to avoid being injured, they can take action following the accident. Should anyone find themselves in this situation, seeking the assistance of a skilled attorney would be wise, as they can help victims win their case and get compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and more.
