Motorcyclist dead after Plano, Texas crash

Here in Texas, with our open roads and sunny skies, we have some of the best byways for riding a motorcycle. But, just like every other state, we also have drivers who don't see motorcycles or are even openly hostile to the ones they do see. In addition, our roads are filled with intoxicated drivers and drivers who feel the inexplicable need to send a text while they're driving.

All of these factors can spell disaster for a motorcyclist, especially considering that they don't have the protections that other vehicles have. That means if a car collides with you, you're going to hit the pavement. And that's exactly what happened in Plano, Texas recently.

A woman in her 40's is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter after an incident that took the life of one young motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was heading north on U.S. 75 when the woman, who was driving an SUV, pulled out right in front of him. The collision hurled the 25-year-old motorcyclist from his motorcycle and he was later pronounced dead when authorities arrived.

The woman driving the SUV was not hurt. She was arrested by police and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

A crash like this is a stark reminder of how quickly life can be taken away by a negligent driver. The woman's actions are alleged and she will have her day in court, but for the family of the motorcyclist, there is nothing but mourning. If you have lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident because of an intoxicated or inattentive driver, you may want to speak with an attorney. He or she can investigate your case and may be able to help you get compensation.
