Fatal accident in Houston attributed to drunk driving

All drivers should know that it is incredibly dangerous to get behind the wheel while intoxicated. Somehow, this very obvious fact is lost on those who choose to drink and drive. Far too often, this supreme act of negligence leads to tragedy.

Recently in Houston, a man lost his life on Interstate I-10 when the Ford Explorer he was driving rolled over after being struck by a Ford Expedition that was allegedly operated by an intoxicated driver. Reportedly, the Expedition's driver was unable to control the speed of his vehicle, which led to the collision. The Explorer's driver was hurled from his vehicle.

A Houston Police spokesman stated there were witnesses who claimed to see the Expedition's driver stop, get out of his vehicle and go to Explorer's driver. The Expedition's driver is said to have then left the area of the accident. The Explorer's driver was later declared deceased at the scene.

It is reported that not long after the crash, an HPD officer detained the Expedition's driver after spotting the vehicle, which had sustained front-end damage. After being issued a drunk driving test, the Expedition's driver was placed under arrest. He was charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxication manslaughter.

If the victim in this incident has a family, they are likely only beginning to deal with what could be a long and painful grieving process. In such situations, the suffering is only made worse by having to contend with a host of financial issues.

If you have suffered the loss of a loved one due to the acts of a negligent driver, you may wish to contact an experienced wrongful death attorney. While no amount of money could ever make up for your loss, you will likely need compensation to cover expenses related to the death as well as the loss of future income and benefits that your loved one would have supplied. An attorney may be able to help you receive a level a recompense that could provide you with funds to cover your unexpected expenses.
