Woman killed in Texas highway crash

Every year, countless families are torn apart by motor vehicle accidents. Drivers, passengers and even pedestrians suffer serious injuries or worse as a result of negligent, reckless or irresponsible driving. Worse still, the victims are often not the ones to blame, yet they lose their lives for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In Pasadena, Texas, a chain-reaction crash had devastating consequences for those involved. Investigators report that the incident commenced after a trailer lost some of its load. The driver is believed to have pulled over to retrieve the lost plastic containers. As he did so, a second driver slowed her vehicle in response.

Unfortunately, the semitrailer traveling behind her did not appear to notice her slowing down. The massive vehicle collided with the car, rolling onto it and killing the driver inside. The road was closed for approximately six hours while crews worked to retrieve her body. The driver of the semi was treated for injuries to his arm, but was later released.

The details of this tragic incident are still under investigation. Sadly, this may be of little comfort to those the victim leaves behind. Accidents like this are all too common on the roads of Texas, leaving families with a void that can never truly be filled.

If you have lost someone in a road accident, it may be difficult to consider legal matters while you are preoccupied by grief. However, the costs of a bereavement can be high, so you may want to think about pursuing compensation, particularly if your loved one's death was the result of someone else's negligence. An attorney can guide you through this difficult time and may be able to assist you with your claim.
