Suspected drunk driver kills Houston child

It's a well-known fact that drunk driving accidents break families every day. In the blink of an eye, a loved one is gone, and no amount of money can bring them back or ease the pain. But justice can be served. You may be able to make sure the right people are held accountable for their negligence. Unlike many other accidents, drunk driving accidents are 100 percent avoidable.

An autistic boy who found himself on a busy overpass in Houston was killed by a driver suspected of being drunk. After going on a bike ride, he became separated from his father, who promptly reported his son missing. Hours later the mother and father were called upon, not with good news but instead to identify their son at the medical examiner’s office.

Drunk driving charges have been filed against the man who allegedly hit the boy. The family is devastated, and so were his teachers who recalled his charming and affectionate personality.

The message must get through to irresponsible drivers that being reckless has huge consequences. Once life is taken or someone is injured due to their lack of responsibility, the damage cannot be undone.

The injured parties must deal with many emotional and monetary hardships as must the families that lose loved ones. In this case, seeking knowledgeable counsel may help ease this hard time and better inform the family of their options for the future.

No one should have to bury their child. No one should have to identify their child’s remains. And no one should have to lose their child to something as senseless as an adult operating a vehicle after having too much to drink.
